Wandering Day with Priscilla

Searching for lanterns on a Saturday.

FROM THE DESK OF: Aiza

Dear Priscilla,

What a great idea to spend our Saturday together wandering around LA. It is always fun to check out new spots and bring friends to some of my favorite places in the area.

Good thing we started the day off with a good lunch in Chinatown. Wasn’t the Filipino food at Amboy super delicious? That vegan kare-kare was no joke. We are going back again soon for sure.

You can never go wrong with a Filipino lunch.

So kind of funny how the Los Angeles Lantern Festival to commemorate Lunar New Year took place at Olvera Street, right? If you hadn’t mentioned the festival, I probably would never have gone. Thankfully, getting out allowed us to find some other gems and of course eat more food.

A Museum of Social Science at Olvera Street? What?! Can we say perfect museum subjects?

Finally, I got to check out Mr. Churro. Yum.

I’m a little obsessed with churros these days.

Why not keep the eating fest going and try one of the best ice creams in America? Salt and Straw time. I almost regret not going with the Pots of Gold & Rainbows flavor. Ice cream that literally tastes like a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal?! Remind me next time to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.

I can’t get enough of this place. I’m in trouble when the DTLA location opens.

Our Saturday plan always involved bar hopping. My personal belief is a good night involves at least 3 different bars. I probably need to move on from this goal though because the price I pay the next day is getting to be a bit much lately.

First stop Arts District Brewing Co. A place for Beer + Games. Hell yeah.

Skee ball, too? Ok. Ok.

It’s so hard to keep up with the Artists District scene these days. Something new is always popping up. But of course, any new bar I MUST to try. Looks like we found the perfect beer garden for afternoon drinks. Resident – We will be back.

An Airstream converted into a bar is a great idea. I need a small one for my dream backyard.

Since the goal is always at least 3 bars and you love dive spots, we had to check out Monty. I think I found a new favorite drink. Too bad our phones died so I didn’t get to take a picture. And let’s face it, by this point I was too drunk to remember what I actually drank anyways.

No matter where we went, you were such great company!

So, what’s up for next weekend?

Big Hugs – Aiza
